Bobcat Bob-Dock: Change Hydraulic Attachments From Inside The Cab
In a nutshell, Bobcat’s new Bob-Dock automatic mounting system lets you switch attachments—even most hydraulic ones—without leaving the cab of your skid steer. It’s an evolution of the company’s Power Bob-Tach quick mounting system, but with the addition of automatic hydraulic connections. That saves time and reduces worker fatigue, resulting in more productivity on the job.
The two elements of Bob-Dock are a floating coupler block that attaches to the skid steer, and an adapter plate for each hydraulic or non-hydraulic attachment you want to use with the system. (The coupler block doesn’t interfere with the lift arm’s standard couplers, so you can still use other attachments that don’t have a Bob-Dock adapter plate.)
Drive up to an attachment, lift the coupler block slightly under the lip of the adapter plate, and stout locator pins will guide the attachment and any hose connections into place. Engage the locking wedges, and you’re ready to work.
You can use the Bob-Dock system with Bobcat M2-Series T630, T650, T740, and T770 tracked skid steers, and with S630, S650, S740, S770, and A770 wheeled skid steers.
More Than Just Convenience
The Bob-Dock system also avoids problems such as too much hydraulic pressure to manually detach the hoses easily, or too much heat in the system to do so without gloves. It also prevents many situations where a hose could be damaged or contaminated by exposure to rubble, because the Bob-Dock components safely route and protect the hoses.
“Fleet owners, equipment managers, and operators who worry about machine downtime will love the Bob-Dock mounting system because it prevents many common operator errors, like failing to disconnect hydraulic hoses before backing away from an attachment,” says Bobcat marketing manager Jason Boerger.
“The Bob-Dock system is also going to be a favorite of operators who will appreciate not having to leave their cabs to connect or disconnect hydraulic hoses,” Boerger said. That’s even more of a comfort factor in the blazing heat of summer or in the freezing cold of winter, the company points out.
