John Deere Builds Its 5,000th Forestry Swing Machine
On January 31st, John Deere celebrated the production of its 5,000th forestry swing machine, a 2656G log loader. The company invited the buyer, Bighorn Logging, and its dealer, Papé Machinery, to a special ceremony and tour of its DHSP (John Deere-Hitachi Specialty Products) factory in Langley, British Columbia, Canada.
The Deere 2656G
The 2656G swing machine was designed using input from loggers in Deere’s Customer Advocate Group. It has up to 14% more lifting capacity than the prior model and optionally up to 19% more tractive effort with the optional long carriage.
A rear-entry cab comes standard, but a side-entry option is available. Both are roomy and feature superb visibility, Deere says.
The 2656G gets its power from a 6.8-liter, 194-horsepower (145-kilowatt), 6-cylinder John Deere PowerTech PVS turbo diesel engine with Tier 4 Final compliance.
Waratah processing heads come factory standard, as does compatibility with JDLink telematics and remote diagnostics. An optional LED light package, meanwhile, is 40% brighter than on previous models, Deere says.
