John Deere Unveils Updated Connected Support Remote Troubleshooting
John Deere recently announced updates to its Connected Support remote service offering to improve its forestry and construction equipment’s uptime, reduce operating costs, and boost productivity.
The new Connected Support service is compatible with machinery that uses the company’s JDLink telematics system, which connects compatible machines in the field with the office and mobile devices.
“With John Deere Connected Support, dealers take a proactive approach, efficiently improving service and the customer experience,” said the company’s Manager of Connected Support, Jim Wagner. “Dealers remotely monitor machines, leveraging two key tools—Service ADVISOR Remote and Expert Alerts—which provide them with the information needed to act quickly to avoid or reduce machine downtime.
“This strategy was designed to ensure John Deere machines are kept in peak operating condition, resulting in increased productivity,” Wagner said.
Service ADVISOR Remote
Using Service ADVISOR Remote, your dealer can diagnose a trouble code from one of your machines. Your dealer can instantly pull information from the equipment or check on it at intervals. A John Deere Machine Health Monitoring Center receives the same diagnostic trouble code.
Sometimes the dealer can fix the issue remotely or tell you how to correct it yourself. Either way, Service ADVISOR Remote speeds up the diagnostic process to ascertain the root cause quickly.
Expert Alerts
The Expert Alerts feature allows John Deere personnel to pool data from many machines in the field to detect widespread issues. They can discuss these with factory sources and your dealer to come up with and implement a solution. Should it require a technician to come out to the site to repair the machine, he’ll be much more likely to know what the problem is beforehand—and bring the right part. This can drastically shorten downtime and get you back to work.
JDLink
Most newer JD equipment is ready to use JDLink and Connected Support, the company says, and older equipment can be upgraded for it. Through JDLink telematics, you can use your mobile device to receive alerts from your machine, see what the operator sees on its display, check its fuel consumption, check on the unit’s physical location, gauge its operational and idle time, and more.
