    About Truck Log Loaders

Rotobec Elite 910 Truck Log Loader

Log loaders are used to load and unload logging trucks, and sometimes to transport felled logs to a landing area for loading or further processing. Truck log loaders, which are sometimes referred to as “grapple trucks,” are somewhat unique because some of them offer an all-in-one solution where the hydraulic grapple and boom combination is situated either just behind the cab or at the back of the chassis and is then used to load logs onto the truck, or unload them. In some instances, the log loader will actually take up the entire truck bed, in which case you might attach a log trailer to the back to serve the same purpose, or use the loader in combination with other truck and trailer combos.

    The Space Between

Truck log loaders inhabit something of a middle ground in the log loader space. They don’t necessarily have the mobility and all-terrain capabilities you’d find in a wheeled or tracked model, but are often more mobile than a trailer log loader or a stationary model. They are best suited for logging operations near roadways and for work near relatively flat landing spots because they may not have the operating range other self-propelled varieties do. But if the terrain you’ll be working is amenable and you want a two-in-one solution that may help you save money on equipment, then a truck log loader is certainly worth considering.

    Many Potential Configurations

You’ll find a wide range of new and used truck log loaders for sale at ForestryTrader.com, including units with and without built-in space for hauling logs, from manufacturers such as Barko, Prentice, Serco, and others.
