About Ponsse
Ponsse Ergo Harvester
Ponsse of Vieremä, Finland, manufactures forestry equipment including wheel harvesters and forwarders. The company was founded in Vieremä in 1970 when Einari Vidgrén requested that the municipal council build him a facility to use as a factory for building forestry equipment. They agreed to build a factory hall by a single vote, and Ponsse was born.
The following year, without a single customer to its name, Ponsse manufactured its first machine. Eero Vainikainen, who was a forest machine contractor at the time, liked the Ponsse Dino prototype machine and decided to purchase one. The company built many more Dinos over the years, and within a decade expanded to include more forestry products. All of that hard work led to Ponsse selling its 10,000th machine in 2015 to Karttulan Metsätyö.

Ponsse’s wheel harvester lineup consists of the Beaver, Fox Cobra, Scorpion, Scorpion King, Ergo, and Bear. Its forwarder lineup features the Wisent, Elk, Buffalo, Buffalo King, Bison Active Frame, Elephant, and Elephant King. The company also sells dual forwarders, harvester heads, and more. In addition to work-ready forestry machines, Ponsse offers simulators that can be used for teaching workers specific skills and exposing them to a variety of scenarios they may face while out in the field. The company also offers a line of information systems designed for use in fleet management and monitoring.
