    About Track Mulchers

A track mulcher is one of several varieties of mulchers used for forestry, land clearing, land reclamation, right-of-way, commercial and residential construction, oil and gas pipeline projects, wildlife restoration, conservation, and numerous other applications.

In addition to producing purpose-built track mulchers with rubber and steel tracks, manufacturers also produce wheel mulchers, skid-steer mulchers, excavator mulchers, and tractors that use mulcher attachments, or mulcher heads. Each type has its own benefits and drawbacks.

With its generally greater horsepower, hydraulic power, overall size, and wider front-mounted mulcher head, a track mulcher model is considered well-suited for large land-clearing jobs and for working in less favorable soil conditions with less damage to the soil.

    On Track

Also known as “brushcutters” and “masticators,” mulchers help operators remove underbrush, trees, and other vegetation, including in areas where such growth can lead to invasive species and vegetation issues. A chief benefit of using any style of mulcher is that it replaces several other machines and eliminates the need to haul away or burn cleared growth, instead returning it to the ecosystem for decomposition. Using mulchers can thus greatly reduce manpower and equipment requirements while generating significant savings in cost and time. Moreover, in many areas, operators can use mulchers year-round to generate more income.

    Steer Clear Of Large Trees

Unlike an excavator and some tractor mulchers that use a mulcher head attached to an articulated boom to reach trees and growth from greater distances, purpose-built track mulchers generally push their way through trees and vegetation to mulch the growth as they pass over it. Thus, while a track mulcher can typically cover a wider swath than, say, an excavator mulcher, it can’t mulch a standing mature tree the way an excavator model can. Leading brands of track mulchers for sale on ForestryTrader.com include Bron, CMI, Fecon, Gyro-Trac, Prime Tech, and Rayco, among others.
