    About Wheel Log Loaders

Wheel log loaders are forestry machines used to load or unload trucks in logging operations. They use a hydraulic boom and grapple to lift logs and carry them onto trucks or drop them off at a landing area. Wheel loaders vary in size and load capacity, and come with varying grapple styles that may make one model better at handling certain functions than another, like picking up multiple tree length logs to make piles or moving delimbed and cut logs after transport.

Wheel Log Loaders vs. Other Types

Like all varieties of log loaders, wheel log loaders have specific strengths and weaknesses. On the plus side, they move a bit more quickly and have greater maneuverability than track loaders, and are often less expensive, to boot. Because of their smaller footprint, they can also move in and out of tighter spots than truck and trailer log loaders. Their agility lets them move more timber than track models, but that efficiency comes at a cost; wheel loaders are less stable than track models when operating on inclines and in rough or shifting terrain.
