    About Wood Chippers

Wood Chippers are machines designed to cut and shred tree branches, limbs, and reasonable-sized trunks into mulch or wood chips. Usually these machines consist of a large wide chute where the operator inserts raw tree parts and a smaller chute on the opposite end where the mulch exits. These machines are typically powered by diesel engines, come in a variety of sizes and capabilities, and can be found everywhere from small landscaping operations to massive lumber processing mills.

    Types Of Wood Chippers

There are a variety of reasons to get a wood chipper: to process scrap lumber, to clean up after a storm, professional mulch making, and more. As such, there are handful of types of wood chippers. Self-propelled wood chippers are chippers with integrated tracks or wheels, often with a crane component capable of lifting pieces of wood into a hopper where it is ground up. Pull-behind-style wood chippers are designed to be towed behind a truck or other vehicle and tend to be ideally suited to smaller jobs like landscaping or storm cleanup. Stationary wood chippers are often permanent fixtures at large lumber mills, where they are usually mounted to a platform in an area dedicated to processing wood chips.
