    About Wheel Processor / Harvesters

    Ponsse Scorpion King Wheeled Harvester

In addition to track forestry harvesters, wheeled forestry harvesters are a key component in forestry operations. Wheeled forestry harvesters are more maneuverable than tracked processors, in general, thanks to their articulated chassis. The machine’s central pivot also aids wheeled processors’ stability, as do their four, six, or eight wheels. Those sets of big tires also spread out the forest machine’s weight, causing less damage to the arboreal floor than a typical tracked harvester produces.

    How Wheel Processor/Harvesters Work

A wheeled processor has a harvesting head on the end of a hydraulic boom that’s used to fell, delimb, and cross-cut trees in just seconds. Some newer machines feature automatic boom controls to assist in repetitive motions and let the operator concentrate on moving the head where it needs to go. By comparison, tracked models also have a harvesting head situated on the end of a hydraulic boom, but many models are small enough to enter dense groves that larger machines can’t as easily enter, if at all.

    Find The Right Processor/Harvester

Some of the more popular manufacturers and brands of wheel processor/harvesters that you’ll find for sale on ForestryTrader.com include John Deere, Komatsu, Ponsse, Timberjack, and Valmet.
